Avril and David first met when they lived across from each other in Dumfries. From there on in there relationship has flourished and this year decided it was finally time to tie the knot.

They opted for a very small an intimate wedding and chose a venue that was perfectly suited to their requirements Orroland Lodge. Located a few miles between Auchencairn and Kirkcudbright Dumfries and Galloway its location right on top of the sea looking out over the Solway Firth, as well its very own private beach and stunning garden including an amazing art installation garden.

The day kicked off early with a midday ceremony and two minutes before it was due to start the heavens opened. But with some great luck and a lovely registrar the wedding was soon back outside with a clifftop view seldom seen anywhere else. After what was a very moving ceremony we had no longer got back inside and the rain came again. And that would be the order of the day sunshine and very heavy showers but that didn’t put a damper on anyone’s day.

With it being a very family oriented wedding Avril and David created lots of fun games for everyone to enjoy including a Mr and Mrs toss the sack, mini golf and skittles which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Avril bought a lot of the items herself including all the amazing little decorations that were placed throughout the venue!

My biggest surprise of the day was to find out David came from a sailing background and wanted to take Avril for a little boating trip on the estates very own boating pond. With a roman style villa and tower looking own in the background it made the perfect location for their portraits creating such a natural feel to them! This Orroland Lodge wedding was something incredibly special, and one I will remember for a long time to come!
