Galloway Activity Centre is a cool unique Do It Yourself wedding venue, located in the heart of Galway and the stunning Galloway forest. With beautiful views and tonnes of activities, it makes for a wedding venue like no other. The venue is perfect for a festival wedding, or boho style wedding.
Travel to the Galloway Activity Centre.
The Galloway Activity Centre may seem like quite a distance away, but it's a straightforward place to get to. The venue is around 45 minutes from Dumfries and 25 minutes from Castle Douglas. Only two to two and a half hours from Glasgow or Edinburgh. The best way to get to Galloway Activity Centre as by car. There is a small bus service that runs right past the venue but with limited service.
If anyone is travelling to the country by plane, the closest airports are either Prestwick or Glasgow. The nearest train station finishes at Dumfries and is approximately 45 minutes away by car or taxi.
Accommodation at Galloway Activity Centre.
If your guests are looking for somewhere to see the Galloway Activity Centre has lots of cool and unique accommodation. There is a bunkhouse that sleeps around 30 people. The venue has some beautiful Mongolian Yurts where you can stay in and keep warm with the fire and the middle.
There are also some modern yet eco-friendly bothy options. The Osprey, the newest build bothy, sleeps six to eight people. It could be the perfect honeymoon lodge with its relaxed dorm construction.
Wedding Ceremony at Loch Ken
In the heart of Galloway, the venue is right on the shores of Loch Ken. Most couples choose an outdoor ceremony right by the water's edge. There is also a decking area to have smaller weddings if the weather is not favourable.
You can bring your ceremony inside to the decorated and converted boat shed. How about arriving at your ceremony is by boat? The venue is also a water sports centre, there are bothies to stay at around the waterside. Richard and the team will come and pick you up by boat and bring you for a short boat ride around the loch to the jetty where your guests will be waiting. What a grand entrance!
Spaces at the Galloway Activity Centre.
Being in the heart of nature, most weddings take place outdoors. There are lots of lovely outdoor spaces, there are some cool indoor ones as well.
The boatshed - Dressed to the nines from floor to ceiling in colourful boat sails with a super cool DIY Look. The boatshed is also a backup ceremony location if the weather is terrible. Most weddings used the shed for their evening reception.
Main Hall- The main hall is where your speeches and wedding breakfast will take place. With 180 degrees of Windows views, overlooking Loch Ken. It's a blank canvas space that you can put your own stamp on whilst setting, enjoying the idyllic views.

The Galloway Activity Centre can hold anywhere from small and intimate weddings, all the way up to 130
Catering options.
The Galloway Activity Centre provides its own catering options for your wedding. You can choose to have either a more relaxed, buffet-style barbecue or a full three-course sit down dinner.
Stunning places for couples photographs.
The main draw of the venue is its location. The centre sits on the shores of Loch Ken in the heart of Galloway. It has the classic rugged views you'd expect with sprawling hills in the distance and the water glistening in front of you.
You can step away from the venue for five minutes, and you are transported to the middle of nowhere. Weather permitting, you get a beautiful sunset overlooking the Loch.
Things to do at the Galloway Activity Centre weddings.
There are so many options to keep you and your guests entertained at your wedding weekend. You could do some of the many watersport options, including paddleboarding or kayaking.
The centre also has its own laser tag area. How cool would a day after wedding laser tag competition between both sides of the bridal party?
Many couples even choose to do an archery competition on their wedding day, just to prove who is really the best one in the relationship. With so many activities inside the venue, you don't even need to venture far.
The Galloway Activity Centre is the perfect location for a wedding festival, Boho themed or rustic too. This chilled out and relaxed atmosphere is what sets it apart from some other venues.
