Hidden river cabins is located just outside the Scotland-England border at Longtown. The venue is ideal for anyone getting married who wants to be in the middle of the country.
The closest cities are Carlisle and Dumfries in Scotland. Carlisle is a 25-minute drive, and Dumfries is roughly 45 minutes away.
The closest airports to the venue are Glasgow and Newcastle. The closet rail connections are Carlisle & Lockerbie. A taxi or driving here is a must because the venue is in the countryside.

There are lots of unique venues in England. However, Hidden River is pretty unique. The venue sits in the middle of the countryside within its own estate. It has a beautiful vista in the heart of nature, and the river Lyne runs through the grounds.
The venue building is a beautifully rustic barn with two different levels. It makes for the ideal location for your ceremony or a more intimate celebration, with a mezzanine level overlooking the ancient woodland and the River Lyne.
Any couple who loves the great outdoors and that beautiful rustic aesthetic will fit right in.

Hidden River cabins can host from 100-250 guests during a wedding day, making it an excellent venue for large weddings in Cumbria.

The Barn
The barn is the main focus of the venue. It hosts your whole day, from the ceremony all the way to the dancing in the evening. The rustic charm of the venue cannot be understated. The interior space cladded with wood is warm and inviting, and in the evening, all the twinkly lights come on, giving it those cosy vibes.
The ceremony room is on the mezzanine level, with its incredible floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ancient woodland, seating over 100 guests.
On the ground floor, you'll find the main reception space with beautiful wooden tables and impressive views. The space is where you will have your wedding breakfast and, afterwards, your evening reception.
A beautiful seating area outside the venue is perfect for those warm summer days during your drinks receptions, where everyone is free to mingle outside and enjoy the tranquil nature of the venue.
Accommodation at Hidden River Cabins
As the name suggests, the hidden river has many purpose-built log cabins for you and your guests to stay in.
There are six cabins, two cottages and the main house for guests to stay in. In total, 80 guests can stay on-site during the wedding with lots of accommodation in the surrounding areas, including Carlisle city centre.
The alpine-style cabins are super spacious, open plan, and perfect for bridal parties to stay in the night before the wedding. The great news is that all the cabins are also dog friendly.
Best timing for your wedding.
Hidden river cabins are a fantastic location to get married anytime in the year. My favourite time at the venue is in the autumn. The picturesque woodland setting comes alive in the autumn when all the leaves start changing colour. The rustic feel of the barn complements this. The Cosy Woodland feel comes alive in the darker months when all the warm glowing lights transform the building.

The grounds of hidden river cabins make for some of the best photo opportunities. There are many great places in and around the Woodlands and down by the river bank. Inside the venue, there are also great-looking backdrops for photos, including the big windows where the ceremony takes place. My favourite thing to do is once against dark the venue, like their fire pit, which makes the best photo opportunities for marshmallows roasting over the fire with the festoon lights twinkling behind.
